Liposuction, or “lipo,” is a plastic surgery procedure designed to remove stubborn pockets of fat cells that resist your best diet and exercise efforts.
During the liposuction procedure, a thin tube (cannula) is inserted beneath the skin to suction out unwanted subcutaneous adipose tissue, allowing Dr. Walters to refine your silhouette with precision and symmetry. The deeper value of liposuction is more than aesthetic. As a body contouring surgery, it precisely targets excess fat deposits, helping align how your body looks with how you feel. Using advanced liposuction techniques—from tumescent liposuction to hi‑definition and power-assisted liposuction—Dr. Walters sculpts results that feel intentional, balanced, and in tune with you.

Dr. Walters offers multiple innovative liposuction techniques to deliver an exceptional patient experience and results.
This time-tested technique uses a straw-like cannula to break up and remove unwanted fat.
This approach adds ultrasound energy to liquefy fat for easier removal with less damage to surrounding tissues.
Dr. Walters uses VASERlipo to perform this hi-def approach, ideal for muscle etching and detailed sculpting.

Our goal is to empower you during the consultation process by providing all the necessary tools to make informed decisions on your aesthetic journey. To that end, we take a two-step consultation approach.
Your Phone Consultation: You will begin with a phone consultation with our patient care coordinator to help you maximize the benefits of your in-person consultation with Dr. Walters. Our coordinator will help you identify the key questions to ask the doctor and provide additional information on pricing, scheduling, recovery, and the treatments that may be right for you.
Your In-Person Consultation: You will meet with both Dr. Walters and our patient care coordinator in our beautiful office space for your thorough in-person consult. Dr. Walters will evaluate your concerns and demonstrate a 3D simulation of what the procedure can achieve. The goal is for you to be well-informed and one step closer to achieving your cosmetic goals. We want to help you feel and look amazing.

Liposuction is performed in an outpatient setting. You will either be placed under general anesthesia or given local anesthesia, depending on the extent of your procedure.
Dr. Walters begins by creating a punch-hole incision in the skin and inserting a cannula, a special tool that makes it easier to loosen the fatty tissue being suctioned out. After removing the targeted fat, Dr. Walters seals the small incision. Based on the number of areas being treated, your procedure may take several hours. In our separate recovery area, your post-op nurse will assist you with managing any discomfort and look after your treated areas until you are sent home in the care of a trusted loved one.
Known in cosmetic surgery for its versatility, liposuction effectively targets:

Liposuction is more than a cosmetic procedure—it restores freedom. By targeting unwanted fat, patients see immediate improvements in clothing fit and contour confidence. Techniques like power-assisted liposuction and ultrasound-assisted liposuction (VASERlipo) help sculpt muscle definition, encouraging continued healthy habits. As a plastic surgery solution for refining body shape, it seamlessly integrates into your lifestyle.
Liposuction surgery is ideal for individuals at or near a normal weight but struggling with localized fat deposits. It is essential to maintain a good skin tone and elastic skin. It is not a weight loss procedure and won’t correct excess skin—patients with loose skin may benefit more from a tummy tuck or body lift in conjunction with liposuction. Good candidates are generally healthy, non-smokers, and have realistic expectations about their outcomes.
If you’re getting liposuction after having children, you may want to consider a mommy makeover that includes a tummy tuck surgery, mini tummy tuck, or tummy tuck with liposuction, as well as a breast lift or breast augmentation.
You will need about 7-10 days of recovery after liposuction, depending on the number of sections treated and the amount of fat removed. It’s typical to have bruising and swelling for 1 or 2 weeks, and you should have stitches taken out 7 to 10 days after surgery.
The most important thing to do following any surgery is to give your body time to rest and heal. When you return to work after your surgery, remember to minimize stress and avoid strenuous activity. To increase your strength and stamina, try walking and light workouts as recommended by Dr. Walters. Remember, you may notice some improvements soon after your surgery, but it will take around 6 months until your new body contour and shape are complete.

Our care for you continues long after you leave the office. Your recovery experience includes:
Liposuction results begin to emerge as early as a few weeks post-surgery, once swelling begins to diminish. Most patients see a dramatic improvement by the 3-month mark, with final results settling in at around 6 months. Because liposuction permanently removes fat cells, your new shape can last for many years, as long as your weight remains stable.
Patients typically enjoy smoother, leaner contours in their treated areas, often describing a renewed sense of balance and proportion in their overall body shape. Whether you’re enhancing your jawline, slimming your waist, or refining your thighs, the improvements are both subtle and significant.

Liposuction prices vary depending on the number of areas treated, the complexity of the procedure, and the technique used. During the consultation process, we will provide you with a personalized pricing estimate based on your unique treatment plan.
Liposuction is not a weight loss procedure. Most people lose less than 10 pounds after a procedure. Keep in mind it is normal for swelling and fluid retention to cause fluctuations on the scale in the weeks following surgery.
Liposuction and tummy tuck surgery are both body contouring procedures, but offer unique benefits.
Many women combine liposuction and a tummy tuck with breast enhancement in a procedure called a mommy makeover, ideal for a total body transformation after pregnancy or weight loss.
Liposuction scars are typically very small, often only millimeters long. Dr. Walters disguises these along natural body contours or in areas that are easily covered, even in swimwear. We also offer multiple therapies to minimize your scarring, including scar gel, scar sheeting, and laser treatments.
As long as you stay committed to a healthy lifestyle and avoid any major fluctuations in your weight, your results should last indefinitely. If you do gain weight, you will gain it more evenly across your body, as the fat cells that have been removed are gone for good.
The most common side effects of liposuction include temporary swelling, bruising, and numbness in the treated areas. Some patients may also experience minor discomfort, fluid retention, and changes in skin sensation. Side effects are typically mild and resolve within a few weeks.
Yes, liposuction permanently removes fat cells from the treated areas. However, significant weight gain can cause the remaining fat cells to enlarge, potentially altering your results.
Liposuction is highly effective for contouring and sculpting specific body areas by removing stubborn fat deposits. While it is not a weight-loss solution, it can significantly enhance your body shape and proportions for years to come.
